First day of the week, Sunday, used eight times,
establishes the seventh day, Saturday, as the sabbath day

Points:

There are eight verses in the Holy Bible that refer to Sunday, by the term "first day" of the week.
All eight of these verses confirm the seventh day, Saturday, to be the sabbath day, the day of rest.

The first five of the eight verses, show the women arrived at the tomb of Jesus early on the first day of the week, Sunday morning.
The women did not complete their work on the sixth day because it was late in the day and the coming seventh day sabbath, Saturday, was near.
So the women rested on the seventh day sabbath, Saturday, as the commandments require.
The women came back to the tomb early on the first day of the week, Sunday, to finish their burial preparation work.
These first five verses show the seventh day sabbath, Saturday, was kept by the women.

Matthew 28:1 KJV
[1] In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Mark 16:2 KJV
[2] And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

Mark 16:9 KJV
[9] Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Luke 24:1 KJV
[1] Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

John 20:1 KJV
[1] The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Commentary

The sixth verse, John 20:19, is the first appearance of the resurrected Jesus to the disciples.
This verse comfirms that Jesus kept the seventh day sabbath by resting in his tomb.

John 20:19 KJV
[19] Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Jesus went back to his work on the first day of the week, Sunday. just as Exodus 20:9 says, "Six days shall you labor, and do all your work.

Exodus 20:8-11 KJV
[8] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: [10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: [11] For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The seventh verse, Acts 20:7, is Paul preaching all day on the seventh day sabbath, Saturday.

Acts 20:7 KJV
[7] And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

When the sun went down, it became the first day of the week and it was too dark for travel.
The disciples stayed where they were and they ate an evening meal together, and Paul continued to preach until midnight, planning to leave on a trip at daylight on the first day, Sunday.
Paul would not have left on a long trip if the first day, Sunday, was the new sabbath day of rest.
This verse shows the keeping of the seventh day, Saturday, as the day of rest, the sabbath of the Lord.

The eighth verse, 1 Corinthians 16:2, is telling the people that when they go back to work on the first day of the week, Sunday, to lay aside their tithe for the following seventh day sabbath, Saturday.

1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV
[2] Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

This verse is also confirming the gathering of the people on the seventh day sabbath, Saturday.

These verses are confirming that they were keeping the Seventh Day, Saturday, as the sabbath day, even after the resurrection of Jesus.
