Gospel of God

Baptisms, water, Holy Spirit, and death

Ask, knock, seek, the Holy Spirit is given to all that ask

Our Father which is in heaven knows how to give good things to those that ask him.
Those good gifts are specified in Luke 11:13 as the Holy Spirit, given to those that ask.

Luke 11:13 explains the "good things" in Matthew 7:11 as being the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 7:11 KJV
[11] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, (Then) how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Luke 11:13 KJV
[13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Points:

-- you know how to give good gifts to your children --- Matthew 7:11
-- your Father in heaven also knows how to give good things to his children --- Matthew 7:11
-- to receive good gifts from your heavenly Father, ask --- Matthew 7:11
-- the good gifts given by God is the Holy Spirit, given to those that ask --- Luke 11:13

Scriptures:

Matthew 7:7-12 KJV
[7] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: [8] For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. [9] Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? [10] Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? [11] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, (Then) how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? [12] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 11:9-13 KJV
[9] And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. [10] For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. [11] If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? [12] Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? [13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Commentary

Some people would say you can do nothing more to receive the second birth than you could your first birth.

But these two verses show that a person can ask, seek, and knock, and the heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit.
